Today's Video Focus Story:  The Irish government has agreed to hold a referendum at the end of May on whether to reform the country’s near-total ban on abortion. Helen Linehan and her husband, the writer Graham Linehan, campaigned to change the law in Ireland after she had an abortion because of a fatal abnormality in the foetus. Cliona Johnson was also told during pregnancy her baby had a fatal abnormality. He lived for 17 minutes after birth and she now campaigns to keep the law as it is.


Focus of the Day story: A Brexit deal that mirrors the free trade agreement (FTA) Canada has with the EU would be equivalent to a ‘no deal’ outcome for legal services, the Law Society warned today. It would also exclude issues such as co-operation in civil and criminal justice matters, mutual legal assistance or recognition and enforcement of judgments, or data protection.
