FOCUS OF THE DAY: The High Court has backed an application by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to destroy millions of documents seized from firms it has intervened in and had to store since, at significant cost to the profession. It is currently storing 400,000 boxes of documents, held at the cost of £1.25m per annum, a situation described as “plainly absurd” by Iain Purvis QC, sitting as a Deputy Judge of the Chancery Division.
